5 October, 2009: As of now, this review blog is going on temporary hiatus–here’s why. Therefore, I am NOT currently accepting new books for review, though I plan to in the future once things open up for me again. Thank you!
If you are a publication that would like to reproduce one of my reviews, or if you would like me to review for you, please email me at whishthound (at) gmail.com. I have reviewed for a number of printed and online publications as well as individual publishers (you may find a list of publications and publishers here) and can provide references as needed. I am currently a graduate student, so I may take a few months to get to a particular book depending on my time limitations, but I do read almost everything I receive; generally I only reject books that are nowhere near on topic (and considering I allow paranormal romance novels as “on topic”, there’s a good bit of flexibility). I do review back catalog titles as well as brand new releases, so if a book’s been out for a while that won’t affect whether I choose to review it or not.
If you are an author or publisher would like me to review a book for you, please email me at whishthound (at) gmail.com. I tend to crosspost links to my reviews to a number of book communities on Livejournal, and I can also review on a couple of other websites/ezines. If you know of a print publication that’s looking for reviews, send me the information and I’ll see what I can do about an unsolicited review. Some magazines only like using in-house reviewers, and some are more lenient.
As an author, I know just how important word of mouth is to getting your work out there, and this is one way I share my thoughts on things I read to help spread the flow of information. You might also check out the Pagan and Occult Author Resource Page for more helpful information.
Also, please be aware that as I am a graduate student, and therefore have a lot of reading that needs to be done for school, it may take me a few months to get to your book! I do read and review everything I get with very rare exceptions, and in the case of those exceptions, I contact whoever sent me the book to let them know. Otherwise, I’ll contact you once the review is live.
Finally, while I’d love to give everyone five pawprints, please understand that if I just don’t like something about your book I’ll say so. Of course, that’s the risk you take any time you write a book–some people are going to love it, others will hate it. But I will give as balanced a review as possible–very few books don’t have at least something to like!
As of 28 December, 2007, I am no longer accepting ebooks for review. This is primarily because staring at the screen for that long is hard on my eyes. Additionally, I do most of my reading on my commute by bus and train, so carrying around a dead tree book is a lot easier than lugging around the laptop (and I really don’t want to spend the cash to get an ebook reader I’ll barely use). I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
I am reviewing other media besides books. I limit magazines to the first issue, as a way to introduce people to new media. I also am open to reviewing limited numbers of DVDs and CDs.

Hi,
I’m a new, self-published ebook author. And would really appreciate a review. My novel, “Vampire in Sensible Shoes,” is on Lulu.com, #792289 – mature content. It’s a coming-out story about a young woman who comes across a vampire, who takes a great fancy to her. In her desperate struggle to escape, she turns to practioners of white magic, and a dramatic struggle between dark and light forces result. Thanks, Sasha
